terrrible movie, even worse soundtrack….producers clearly never read the script, if they did they’d never have put a cent into it. what a mind-numbingly dimwitted premise for a demonic possession movie, that doesn’t reveal how badly the entire thing stunk until the very end…they should have called it “silent but deadly” LMAO
This guy “Phil” CLEARLY has ZERO understanding of this genre of film; “Beyond the Door” aka “The Devil Within Her” is one of the most off the wall, and wildly entertaining movies of the Italian horror genre…the insanity, the bizarre premise, the barely linear story that actually makes LESS sense each time you watch….and that MUSIC! This one has an incredible and strange soundtrack that includes some fantastic Jazz fusion tracks, mixed with a background score that is ominous, oblique and as bizarre as anything that the band Goblin created for Argento’s early films..And while director Assonitis’ movie borrows elements from “The Exorcist,” it is still completely it’s own creation. Very similar in tone and style to the cult sci-fi/horror hybrid “The Visitor” from 1979, another example of colossal Italian strangeness, “Beyond the Door” is sadly overlooked, most likely due to those horrible, muddy VHS tape transfers from the Media label, but the movie now looks really stunning and can finally be appreciated for what it is; a true cult genre masterpiece.
Thanks for the upgrade. I love this movie. It’s really scary.
