I love this film. It’s awesome. I think it’s one of my favorite Howling films after the first film. The first film has it’s own issues like the werewolves are all lame looking with the exception of the main werewolf from the start of the film. That’s one of the coolest looking werewolves.

i’m waiting for a blu-ray remaster of ‘howling: new moon rising’, the gold standard of ‘howling’ films.
As with most franchises, none of the sequels match the original, but this and Howling VI: The Freaks are generally reckoned to be the best of them. Opinion is divided as to which of the others is the worst, though at least Howling II: Your Sister is a Werewolf is almost as unintentionally funny as its title.
Howling V is also notable for being, as far as I know, one of only two films in the subgenre of werewolf whodunnits. The other is The Beast Must Die (1974), which was also the first (and last) British blaxploitation werewolf whodunnit, and is well worth a look if you like very silly horror films.
