Oh dear. Four days ago, out of the blue, I thought of this movie, and just how bad it is. It’s so awful I can’t imagine how anyone with any connection to it could ever appear in public again without a disguise. I’d say Tony C. really put in some effort to salvage something from this stinker, but all to naught. But what concerns me is, why did I think of this movie at all, just before it was posted here? I hope it was mere coincidence, and that no malevolent forces were involved.
Manitou? What happened to Manione?
I concur with the previous reviewer. This is something that could have only come from the 1970’s.
thanks you so much any chance of night terrors on blu ray from vinegar have extras and audio commentary and Crescendo blu ray from vinegar have extras and audio commentary and The Stranger Within from vinegar have extras and audio commentary?
This incredible movie is up there with ‘Exorcist II: The Heretic’ when it comes to hugely ambitious big-budget horror films that were so blind to the complete absurdity of the concepts they were trying to persuade the audience to take seriously that they achieved a strange kind of grandeur. Nearly all movies described as “so bad it’s good” are just plain bad, and usually rather boring, but this one really is so utterly bonkers that it transcends badness. And boring it certainly isn’t! Tony Curtis, who was always much better when he was allowed to play somewhat disreputable characters instead of the usual dreary romantic leads, is rather good as a cynical psychic con-artist who very unexpectedly finds himself up against the real thing. But there must be at least a dozen moments when you almost expect that Monty Python army officer to pop up and shout “Stop this! It’s getting too silly!” Susan Strasberg, who has the thankless task of playing the woman afflicted with an ectopic pregnancy from hell (literally) would probably agree.
