Next up: Les fantômes d’Ismaël (Ismael’s Ghosts), please. And see that the airplane jew rant isn’t cut!
In Europe this film was quite all over the broadcasters, but imo it also showed the limitations of hyped Natalie Portman. It was the first time I realized, that she always pulls from the same repertoire and is always cast in similar roles (damsels in distress, so she can dramatically weep into the camera without having to express any depth of her characters). Goya’s Ghosts is not an overwhelming experience, but a somewhat interesting view in that respective time-line.
Thanks for sharing.
This movie made me into a Javier Bardem fan. By the way, I think Natalie Portman did a great job in dual roles. And all her nudes were body doubles.

Maestro Rarelust. What can I say. A thousand thanks (bowing)!
Didn’t even know Milos Forman made it into the 2000s with features and Javier Bardem? Interesting.
