Preminger made only one western. An absolute masterpiece. Songs from Monroe stays in my mind since ever. So just seeing this movie title, sound like “there is a river, cause a river of no return” and “One silver dollar…changing hand…changing mind…”. But above Marilyn Monroe so prodigious with a perfect Mitchum (not a very cleaver man bur what an actor!), there is a movie, a tale of paradox, a tale about life, about a father and a son… Laura was cheap theater stage translation, as The river of no return seems to me a true movie as Godard, Truffaut, Rivette and Chabrol loved them. This film is so beautiful. Thank you Rarelust.
