Thank you for this really rare movie with all the bonuses.
Alexis Kanner was a good friend of mine. His magnum opus should have been ‘Kings & Desperate Men,’ a film he wrote, produced, directed & acted in with his friend Patrick McGoohan (from ‘The Prisoner’ TV series, in which Kanner had several roles). He was forced to edit the film against his will, due to not being able to get a distribution deal due to the film’s length (over 3 hours), which destroyed the film’s character & tone, losing him the recognition he deserved. I’d recommend the final product, although it lost the intensity & visceral tension of the original.
‘Kings & Desperate Men’ was still an extraordinary film and I hope Alexis knew how much it was appreciated by those who did get a chance to see it.
He was clearly an outstanding talent who should have had a more prominent career behind the camera as well as in front.
Leonard Cohen has a cameo in this
Precisely WEIRD cult flick from Canada, more a character study of an anti-social loner than a movie with a linear story-line. Starring the red headed Alexis Kanner, an actor with a small but devoted cult following, known for starring in obscure and offbeat movies like “Goodbye Gemini,” and “Connecting Rooms,” where he co-starred with Bette Davis….and the lost film “Mahoney’s Last Stand..” This is worth checking out…
Obscure Canadian cinema is most welcomed.
