One Response to The Doll That Took the Town (1957)

Many thanks for posting this one, Rarelust.

A typically (period) fraught 1950s Italian nightlife moral melodrama, a first rate cast (Virna Lisi always intense and supremely watchable), and a good quality copy.
It’s frustrating that it’s an English dub, but for now it seems the original Italian audio may be lost, so it’s this or nothing until that circumstance changes.

Of note for those into production idiosyncrasies, for the original Italian release Virni Lisi was dubbed by Goliarda Sapienza (Maselli’s long-time partner and film-making assistant), now better known across Europe as a best-selling author (majority of her works published posthumously).

Any further Maselli films posted here would be appreciated.
