I haven’t seen this film, yet, but the plot description sounds very similar to a film released the year before, House of Bamboo (1955), starring Robert Stack in the lead role.
Now I’m going to have to watch Outside the Law and see if my guess is close ;)

I’m buying some of these film noir boxed sets but this one in particular I haven’t done so yet,and I never saw this film,starring one of the most underrated actors of the ’50s (too handsome to be taken seriously,maybe?),Ray Danton. The guy can deserved better roles and a lot more fame than he had. Anyway,you always make my wish list come true so… my thanks to you and congrats as usual on your unique and excellent site.
