Russian crap.
Great movie. The original US DVD had cool and well done animated subtitles. For example, when the bad guys are calling the kid in the pool, blood from his nosebleed forms the words.
I was going to mention that as well. The director was involved in designing the English subtitles; they were only released theatrically and on the first US DVD release. The second movie had them as well theatrically, but they never made it to home video, sadly.
I’m privy to say that this is one of the FEW “new wave” Horror Films (meaning “2000s Foreign”, in this case) that I saw in the movie theater when it was new.
