The creepiest, darkest Polanski yet… Oh, but what a masterpiece! Savour every putrid flavour, ponder over all the gritty, dirty nuances, and you may only begin to grasp Polanski’s twisted mind and accompany Trelkovsky’s through his slow descent into hell! Enjoy, but don’t “jump” to conclusions too quickly, don’t “fall” into the temptation of believing your own eyes, for they will very quickly deceive you, especially if you try to grasp a bottle of Evian in the middle of the night. Chill to the icy tones of Philippe Sarde’s crystalline compositions, whose entire score is a musical tour de force in itself — a true successor to Komeda, no doubt — and try not to slide into transgender depression… Best of luck! After Le Bal des Vampires (the director’s favorite and mine, too), Le Locataire is my most endearing Polanski masterpiece yet! Thank you rarelust for getting all the best quality prints, both in picture and sound, you are as efficient as you are discreet (and elusive)! Great job!
“Grand Cru” Polanski in 70’s Paris (construction of Les Halles!) Great mood masterpiece, spot-on acting.
“No one does it to you like Roman Polanski”
Now that is a legendary kind of tagline.
