“Sette scialli di seta gialla” rhymes, if you didn’t know.
This one sticks with you. Not because it is such great cimema, but because the plot is meticulously thought out, but does not seem to be as you first experience it.
Even after finishing it for the first time you may not ‘get’ everything that happened and how it was connected and actually makes sense. Maybe you will, but not me, it took another viewing after wondering about it for a while.
This is the mark of screenwriting and plot development without over-explaining what is supposed to be a mystery unfolding.
I have to mention that the story takes place in Copenhagen, and that exotic location in day and especially at night adds the story greatly.
Oh and the shower scene goes where “Psycho” never dared.
Commentaries are with (1) film historians Troy Howarth and Nathaniel Thompson (editor of the Mondo Digital website), and (2) with Peter Jilmstad and Rachael Nisbet of “Fragments of Fear – A GialloPodcast”.
