   thanks for the extras and upgrade. it look like so beautiful gorgeous transfer picture quality, so even is way so much better than previous blu ray so much too dark anything couple of part it the film went to dark, but i can’t to see it that scene where person in the apartment look so grey dark crush. also it was great underrated gem film, stone she did after basic instinct her performance successful. she was great acting that in film. would love to see red rock west on blu ray have with extras and audio commentary.

   I read the Ira Levin novel prior to this flick’s original release. As I recall, it was even more daft, with a cat clawing its way into the climax in a deus ex machina moment of supreme disappointment. Both the novel and the Eszterhas script seem initially to be influenced by Roman Polanski’s sublime black comedy masterpiece The Tenant (notable, since Levin wrote the novel that was the basis for Polanski’s Rosemary’s Baby). It certainly fails to reach those heights despite being compulsively watchable and slickly packaged nineties cheese.

   Sliver starts vividly in exciting American giallo territory, then mostly retreats to the kind of softcore erotica that exploded following the success of Eszterhas’s Basic Instinct. Sharon Stone was more convincing as the dominant femme fatale and bestselling author Catherine Tramell than she is here as the more submissive and softer book editor who’s eager to explore her wilder, less inhibited side. Daniel Baldwin recently explained in an interview that his brother and Stone couldn’t stand each other, and that probably accounts for the awkward tension and total lack of chemistry between the two stars.

   The real sparks fly when Polly Walker and Allison Mackie show up as the sexy victims whose screen time is cut brutally short.
