This is very interesting film. It’s funny how the trailer (which you can and should see on Youtube) has “UFO” change to “FOES”, implying that this is a scouting for a future invasion.

But if you watch the film and take it for what it is, there is a completely different context. There are some spoilers here, so I will continue the post with a few added spaces…

The Aliens are pure energy, almost like “the color from outer space” ala H.P, Lovecraft. I felt as if the UFO crashed into the F-16 in the beginning as it was eager to examine, without regard to how fragile it (and we) was. When the couple at the lighthouse sent the transmission to the Coast Guard, the UFO picked it up and raced to the island to investigate. Eventually, the Aliens attempted to bring the couple on board, but the husband caught fire (due to the intense radiation) and they landed the wife back to Earth.

Later, they come out of their vessel and try to communicate with the 2 divers… but because they are completely incompatible, all they do is start to drive him insane. They try again onboard their vessel to communicate with the other diver, but they are just too “alien” and leave.

As to how the second diver died, maybe they tried one last time to either communicate or bring a human onboard, only for him to die and completely confirm that the 2 species are incompatible, and they left to never return.

There are no subtitles in the .mkv.
If you can send it to me by email.
    Thank you RL

  3. Bob says:

Funny how most if not all UFO subject film title/synops say ‘invade’ not ‘visit’.

The hostility of humanities paranoia is right there for all to see even for the sky ghosts. No wonder they wont show their faces :D

  4. Carlos says:

Don’t watch the theatrical version!!! Producers added stock footage for like 10 minutes and the film’s atmosphere is destroyed. Stick with the shorter director’s cut. Thank you rarelust for the commentary track on this release!

    • Christopher Seay says:

I would concur for the most part. It is still interesting to watch the shorter “Director’s Cut” and then watch the longer “Theatrical Cut” just to see the differences.

  5. Nick says:

MacDonald Carey’s daughter is the talented singer Lynn Carey who sang the songs in Russ Meyer’s Beyond the Valley of the Dolls. Never heard of this one, looking forward to watching it, sounds very interesting. Thanks again RL!!

    thank you very much!

  7. Tony says:

There’s something so special about the simple flying saucer image.
