Also akin to “Charly” and “Flowers for Algernon” is “Phenomenon (1996)” starring John Travolta. The differences are that Travolta becomes not only brilliant, but incidentally telekinetic. In Phenomenon the root cause is a brain tumor. But that aside, Phenomenon is a tale of the growth of, albeit unsought, uncharacteristic brilliance and its consequences.
I like the Always Sunny in Philadelphia version the best.
Probably my favorite episode.
Funnily enough, both this movie and ‘Charlie’ have identical synopses! Shurely some mishtake?? Probably because they also have a similarity of plot, I guess.
no mistake Flowers for Algernon is a version of Charly (1968)
