RL, it would be very interesting to add herewith “Jodorowsky’s Dune” documentary dir. Frank Pavich (2013/90mins), the initial project that Lynch took over from, stars H.R.Giger the cult industrial designer, has a Pink Flioyd soundtrack too.

    • Mr.G. says:

PS: got a hold of the BR in light of Dune 2 Pt.2 announced 03/2024, very highly recommended, includes insight from Christian Vander (Magma), possible stars Mick Jagger, Udo Kier (Warhol), Jodorowski’s ideation was unfathomable not to be missed.

  2. Boe Job says:

Extended (177 min 14 sec) is the TV version. Spicediver cut (178 min 36 sec) is a fan edit by Sam Wong that combines Theatrical, Extended and out take bits. Unfortunately all substandard compared to the book. At least Lynch give it an honest go and tried a few unconventional things. The score, production design and cinematography at least are beyond what is in the most recent Hollywood reboot, which was an overly long snoozer.

    • riceburner says:

Thank you for posting about the “Spicediver” cut! I had never heard of it and Dune is one of my all time favorites!

…and, of course, all hail RL!!!

    • Dwight Fry says:

Correction: Sam Wong is not Spicediver. Sam Wong is some dude who took the Spicediver cut, did tweaks on his own (putting back the rain ending that Spicediver removed) and uploaded it to Youtube as if it was the real thing.

  3. dmiller says:

Can’t thank you enough for this. I would also ask you to upload (Spicedriver). Thank you.

  4. ANTHONY J LANGFORD says:

Love the Lynch original. The extended cut is worth a watch but tries to explain too much.
The new version is good also and really not that different than Lynch’s version. If anything it’s toned down abit. Ie there’s a rape attempt on Paul’s mother in the original but not the new one.
Cheers for the upload and the extra version.

    • JOA says:

FYI-The ‘Spicedriver Fanedit’ is the absolute best version you can find out there. It combines the original cut, with all the unused Lynch footage into an epic film. Definitely more of what Lynch had envisioned before producers pulled the financial and creative plug. Lynch fans look for it, a must see!

  5. Mr.G. says:

The rare extended version, thanks RL!
Francesca Annis coming from Krull (Peter Yates/1983) also available by RL here: :https://rarelust.com/krull-1983/

  6. Tony says:

I am not a huge sci-fi guy, but this one is worth a watch. Not the best Lynch movie, but he did a hell of a job. I will never watch the new version.
