One Response to Agatha and the Limitless Readings (1981)

  1. temnix says:

In many of Duras’ books there is a sense of timelessness, as if time did exist. They take place in such abstract, remote surroundings, as though the earth were depopulated. As though all of the milling multitudes who ceaselessly intrude on the soul had been whisked away to outer space, blasted by nuclear fire, made to disappear by a magic spell, and the individual is one on one with himself, his feelings, nature, the essence of art. But it is not so. Time moves on, bringing closer a personal death, and the mindless billions cavort, nor does nature show a hidden face, and such a pause is not to be had in this universe.
