Saw this on home video in my early teens, too young for such graphic footage. If anyone has seen both versions, how does the Japanese version compare?
This documentary has a solid reputation and is quite respected. True crime buffs will see it as a rehash of many well known crimes but watch it with it’s release date in mind. It still contains some rare material and a well-written narrative. Fans of true crime, mondo, the snuff film controversy and daring documentaries in general are advised to track down a copy of ‘Killing for Culture’, An Illustrated History of Death Film from Mondo to Snuff (1994). This is an utterly one of a kind indispensable guide and where I first read about this. It’s one in a series of filmbooks from Creation Books that are all must-reads. It’s listed on Amazon and Rarelust carries many of the films discussed. Thanks for the commentary!
