Unexpectedly, I love this movie.
First, they wanted you to fall in love with Monica Bellucci, which I did in spectacular fashion. Wow.
Second, Giancarlo Giannini is a masterful actor, a perfect everyman who draws you into his confusing world.
Third, the theme of the different ways of dealing with grief and the loss of love really hit me hard, since I’ve been there.
Fourth, don’t let the Italian language dissuade you. There is nothing more vivid than an Italian actor expressing contempt and love in their own special language. If you’ve ever seen Sophia Loren speaking Italian, you know what I mean.
