I should like to see Fonda and Perkins so early on.
Absolutely adorable gem of a film with as great young pair of gorgeous actors as you can have in Anthony Perkins and Jane Fonda. It’s so funny to see Fonda play such a lovestruck school girl type to Perkins’ awkward egghead jock. Just a few years prior to this Perkins starred in a rather underrated western (in my opinion), TIN STAR, alongside Jane’s father, Henry Fonda. The ending of this film is also a sly reference to NORTH BY NORTHWEST, with the lovers in an embrace in a vehicle that enters the tunnel. It’s most appropriate this film should reference Hitchcock considering Perkins’ most iconic performance happened the same year as this film, in PSYCHO.
