Now there is a film. Louise Brooks is unforgettable. And so is in this film her “father” or “teacher,” the ridiculous, crumpled and wise old man Carl Goetz, sad as reality itself. “I would have liked to taste a Christmas pudding one more time before I die.”
For those not in the know Louise Brooks is modelled by Hugo Pratt as Louise Brookszowyc in the Corto Maltese comics series, Hugo Pratt in turn major influence of Milo Manara (Le Déclic). Maybe some future BR release will cover Pratt’s actual acquaintance with Brooks (1983) w/interview in extras…

The 3 Penny Opera is incredible. One of my old film school profs had a commentary on the Criterion disc.
