Excellent, but dark & depressing film, really shows the ugliest side of human nature….but I guess that is what a film about underage prostitution is supposed to be like. A lot of skin if that’s what you are looking for, but the heavy handed subject matter will repulse some viewers…
Can only agree with Ali. “Die Spalte” is still sometimes claimed to be some kind of arthouse film, but in fact it’s an exploitation flick, and, as Ali said before, quite dark and depressing. The only remarkable thing is the date of filming, because exploitation films with explicit scenes (at least for European and particularly German terms) were rare and/or banned, so it became a routine to make the exploitative films look a bit educational, to add an idea of morality, in short: to show that sex before marriage is bad and leads to prostitution.
Actress Gerhild Berktold was daring, probably thought she would gain attention, but obviously she’s not good at acting…but none of the cast really are.
All in all a rather amateurish, vintage exploitation flick from post-“Wirtschaftswunder” Germany with violence and softporn.
