Description: After a long-term relationship ends, Norah moves to a remote house in the country. The locals are friendly., if eccentric. She starts a flirtatious relationship with young gamekeeper, Rob. But events at a festival have her feeling manipulated.     Thanks so much for this piece of folk-horror, made 3 years before The Wicker Man with the same theme, pagan Harvest Ritual.

    Screenplay was by novelist John Bowen, based on the actual case of Charles Walton, whose body was found on St Valentine’s Day 1945 in Lower Quinton, Warwickshire.

    (Bowen also wrote the screenplay for another Play For Today available here at RL, ‘A Photograph’)

    Highly recommended.
