Hi, you guys have a fantastic collection of retro porno. I would really appreciate it if you upload “Story of Joanna”.

A lot of uninformed people slammed this movie when it first came out. They were expecting a hardcore porn flick and got THIS instead. Sarno’s “Deep Throat II” is an intelligent PARODY of the first film, and of the porn industry in general. It’s NOT a hardcore feature. Like many fans of 70’s adult films, I greatly dislike the original “Deep Throat…” it’s a lousy movie that for some reason, was showered with attention and praise, while many fantastic, worlds better adult films (like “Every Inch A Lady* and “Story of Joanna” were ignored. Check out “Deep Throat II” for a really good softcore movie, along the lines of the films of Chuck Vincent..

“greatly dislike the original “Deep Throat…””
This was s campy send-up of “modern memes” of the day (i.e. PSA “Do you mind if I smoke while you eat?”). The main reason it became such a big hit was the notoriety surrounding it due to the litigation around it (was it obscene? should the performers be classed as prostitutes? did it deserve protection under copyright laws?) Because of the court cases making national news “everybody” was talking about it and “had to see it”. Appreciating the cultural references makes the original amusing if not enjoyable. (Freely admit not sure why Lee Carroll was in the movie, she seemed somewhat bored.)

wow , thought this was deleted great find RL

  4. Ali says:

Now THIS is really impressive. I thought this movie was lost. It’s always good to see Harry Reems show up here. Thanks for all the great films RL!

  5. Phaota says:

Commentary is with writer/director Joseph W. Sarno, actor Richard Livermore (aka Levi Richards), and moderators/film historians Michael Bowen and Michael Raso, president of E.I. Independent Cinema.
