Description: TV adaptation of Bruce Jay Friedman’s off-Broadway play. Tandy, Merideth and assorted others unexpectedly wake up in a steambath with no easy exit. After spending some time there, it becomes clear that the steambath is a sort of Afterlife, where indifferent souls come to tell their stories to God who happens to be the attendant picking up the towels.

I love this whole series of Broadway Theater Archive videos from Kultur. Please post more if you come across them. Thanks so much for this one!
Is this the version where Bixby hulks out and doinks Val Perrine?
One of the great “Broadway on Showtime” specials they use to do when they were a good channel.
It was expanded into a weekly series that allowed them to explore some ideas deeper.
Then there was the woman’s version, “Steaming” (1985)
Thanks.
Awesome! More Broadway Theater Archives! Please!
Don’t forget to mention the lovely and talented Valerie Perrine
God is a Puerto Rican bath attendant in a steambath where you get comfortable with the idea of being dead. A great video from the ’70’s. Thank you so much.
