I’d never been impressed by Charles Grodin’s roles.
That was before watching 11 Harrowhouse! Wow, what a pleasant surprise!!
Grodin’s droll, deadpan running commentary is just icing on a great caper film.
Maybe I’ve overlooked something. I’m going to rewatch all of the Grodin films that I’ve seen in the past, just in case.
James Mason, always one of my favorites, delivers another fine performance. His killer last line to the boss, just before dropping dead, a classic ‘up yours’ to The System, btw. Love it!
A thrilling and funny caper film. I’m embarrassed that I’d never gotten around to watching 11 Harrowhouse until just recently. What was I thinking? Mea culpa!

Should be a cult classic today, but was possibly sabotaged by the re-release of “11 Harrowhouse” on VHS, which deleted Charles Grodin’s continuous, wonderful Narration..which turned out to be one of the best things about the film. so many thanks to Rarelust for finding, and sharing this glorious print that restores “11 Harrowhouse” to it’s original glory…..

Wow, this is a real gem, and what a cast! I never even heard of this one. It’s as good as “Thomas Crown Affair,” with Steve McQueen and Faye Dunaway, so I don’t know why it’s not more well-known. Thanks again RL..
