Came in from Pasolini’s Medea (1969) with Maria Callas, then this Phaedra with Mercouri, there is something magnetic about these women that transcends acting as an artform, as if they make the rules instead to follow, so you need a caliber of Pasolini/Dassin to direct or a Dali/Picasso to paint for that purpose, very rare idiosyncratic class.
RL if you have Dassin’s “Never on Sunday” (1960) filmed just before this movie, on the rare 97mins long US cut would be fantastic to upload!

What a film!!! The cinematography in the love scene alone is the most beautifully crafted and performed I have ever seen. The only ‘bad thing’ about this film is that you are sorry there aren’t films of this calibre today! 10/10 Thank you for uploading another Gem!
