This pretty photographed but sloppy directed film shows something of both, the fascination of the Hippie culture with the east and the more trivial not-at-all easy life there. Jane Birkin at the height of her fame, her notorious husband Serge Gainsbourg fits perfectly in a sleazy role and nobody Pascale Audrey is the easily forgettable personification of a hipster who wants but ultimately doesn’t commit. Although the sleazy english title “Pleasure Pit” suggests english voiceover, and the film had been dubbed in various languages it is for some reason not easy to find another copy than in French.
