We sure have become spoiled here in the 21st century. What with expecting HD video and audio to not have an annoying buzz/hum that’s louder than the dialog. Still, it’s the great John Saxon.
I hear you, but don’t forget that we still had quality cinema back then, and producers still screw up the audio sometimes, as with having the dialog too low with the music and FX too high.
Also note that much can be done to restore badly produced video. For example, with GoldWave and other tools, I’ve been able to improve such audio tracks a lot.
My next project is to re-edit The Stand (2020) miniseries, to make it chronologically linear, as it should have been.
