Yes, “Jethro Bodine” IS a great Director, as his first outing, “Macon County Line” proved. Hell, it had a TV Ad Campaign for 10 1/2 months, and ran in the theaters off and on until early 1976. (HELL Again: it’s Network TV Premiere–on NBC in 1977–was one of the most watched that year.). It was also my first time ever seeing Max Baer in a Dramatic Role (he was The Sheriff), as opposed to the lovable goofball from “The Beverly Hillbillies”.
HOW GOOD WAS MAX BAER’S PORTRAYAL? So damn good that “Bodine” has become the informal “nickname” of a Rural Cop (which sticks to this day).
Again, Rarelust, Thank You!! You always bring the best.
many thanks
Amazing! Thanks for this one! A very underrated movie. The commentary is great, too; thanks for including it!
Commentary is with Director Richard Compton and moderator Bill Lustig.
