On his commentary track, Jason Ney describes another, somewhat related film called The Fear Makers from 1958 (imdb tt0051605) which, he says, concerns itself with how the media and government can manipulate people into believing in destructive ideas.
Since the topic is highly relevant today, not least since Barack Obama signed the Smith-Mundt Modernization Act, and because it’s interesting to see how media/government manipulation on the public could be thought to work in the 1950s, The Fear Makers may be a film of interest to some blog followers.
