Crawford came from the roaring ’20s, a striking character from the silent era, and in Technicolor regretfully now lost. I’ve seen her much later on Johnny Guitar (1954), the only western …that’s not a western, blurs the line between theatre and movies, she owns the film! That confidence comes from the ’20s.
