I picked up “Killing…” after reading about it in ‘Killing for Culture”, an excellent volume on snuff, mondo, and death films. It’s one of the better murder docs out there. Seems we been following the same breadcrumb trail. This site never ceases to amaze me. I literally had to take off from work after getting involved in the A-Z listings… I couldn’t stop clicking.
LN, If you haven’t already, check out the critically acclaimed ‘Killing of America’. It’s a compilation of murder and mayhem American style. Most of the crimes are well known but the film boasts exclusive footage not available elsewhere. Thanks for the post, RL.
This is a real find. A piece of anti-American mondo propaganda directed by giallo maestro, Sergio Martino. I thought I was acquainted with most of the mondo films but this slipped past my radar and obviously many historians as well. After scanning several well-written and researched books on the subject, I couldn’t find even a mention offline. Like other mondos of the late 60’s – early 70’s, it’s a mixed bag of interests but the focus and perspective are unique and it contains some offbeat time capsule footage of the period. If I had seen this without knowing who directed I’d never suspected Martino. Thanks RL.
