Re: aspect ratio; comparing this version to a VHS version, I would guess that this is the correct ratio, at least it looks intentional to me. Look at some of the low res 4:3 versions on Youtube, and you can see a lot of space above the characters’ heads, that was probably intended to be matted out in projection. Compare it to the RL version, and I think the RL version has the correct framing. But you know, I don’t want to get into a whole thing about mid-50s aspect ratios! We’re here for pleasure, dagnabbit!

Anybody know if this is supposed to be Widescreen? I thought it was shot Academy ratio and it seems a little stretched. It’s nice to have a copy either way since Susan Hart, the actress and widow of AIP co-founder James Nicholson notoriously asks for a hefty fee whenever a home video label is interested in releasing the films she owns, and none of them have even received new transfers since the late 80s/early 90s. I think Shout Factory tried to get the rights to do the MST3k episode and other films she owns like The Amazing Colossal Man but couldn’t reach an agreement.

It’s probably just cropped widescreen for the DVD release.
The rip itself though is still a bit stretched.
Standard PAR on a DVD should be 1.185 and not 1.212 like it is in this rip.
      By my math the DAR should be (704/476) x (32/27) = 1.753 … not 1.793

thanks you for this. i just actually like it that film, since this is really pretty old werewolf flick and also young michael playing as werewolf. any chance of jade (1995) 4k ultra from vinegar have a special features and audio commentary and xtro 3 blu ray from vinegar with special features and charley one eyed blu ray from vingear have special features and audio commentary?

Now this is interesting! Great role for Whit Bissell and a massively entertaining delinquent werewolf movie. Technically, still a bit muddy in places, but in widescreen and looking better than I’ve seen it look on home video where previously VHS was the way to go. I wonder where this version came from? According to a quick and lazy internet search, 11 AIP films including this one and its stablemate … Teenage Frankenstein are tied up in rights/distribution limbo due to the rights holder reportedly demanding unrealistic sums for the honour of being put out into the world. This is a perfect title for RL! Many thanks from the laboratory for your tireless work in the advancement of all our mad projects . . .

I was hoping I’d some day get to see Dawn Richard in this film!
