Emmanuelle Béart is the main totally gorgeous reason to watch this film. It is essentially a French version of a British stage-farce, such as ‘No Sex Please – We’re British!’ or ‘Noises Off’ or ‘Not Now, Comrade!’ but unlike those films, which remain light-hearted throughout, this film gets a bit dark in places, and reminded me of the 2002 film 8 Women, which also featured Mademoiselle Béart. The French have always been entranced by ‘L’amour fou’.
