This one gets so much hate, so I was pleasantly surprised when I finally watched it a few years back. Here was my review:
The kind of trash that Tom Atkins’ disgruntled father would have definitely tossed in the bin in the original Creepshow. This is the bastard stepchild of those earlier films, yet it captures the forbidden E.C. Comics sensibility better than most of what I witnessed in Shudder’s neutered debut episode of its new Creepshow series. I prefer naughtier tales with an aspect of comeuppance, which were kind of a staple of the earlier films and of the most memorable entries of Tales From the Crypt. The real creeps were often the humans that ended up paying dearly for their indiscretions or their inhumanity.
This is a cheap bit of “quick buck” exploitation that should fulfill some sick kicks if you’re not too demanding, or if you’re content to riff on some cheesy horror with friends. You won’t find much love for it among purists, but I’m glad I finally tasted this rotten fruit for myself.
I’m definitely with the hate it crowd. This was complete garbage.
