Thank you for sharing.
If you have the VHS version from the mid/late 90s (the one with Freddy on the spine of the tapes with stretched arms when the tapes are lined up together) then you have the censored theatrical version. The only VHS version that has the uncut version of ANOES 5 is the initial home video release, which has a blue background and Freddy standing right next to the demonic baby carriage. The version you have is the one with the shot of Freddy on a black background with the title underneath him and a smaller demon baby carriage at the lower right side of the box art.
This might be the most overlooked and underrated sequel. It’s got some of the coolest practical effects of them all.
Is this the theatrical version (that is the only version available on DVD) or the now long lost/out of print uncut version with footage that had to be removed for the theatrical version not to get an X-Rating and was only available in the original first edition VHS release?
To my knowledge Jesse Baker the Uncut version of this movie has only been released on laserdisc and certain vhs copies. I happen to own the laserdisc version of this movie. I own all 6 Nightmare movies on laserdisc and dvd. I forget if the dvd collection has Wes Craven’s New Nightmare which is obviously the 7th film in the collection. I was given the dvd’s to me by my sister. Oh yeah, I also have the vhs copies of this movie franchise too. So I own 3 different formats of this movie but the VHS one is the one that released in the late 90s so the uncut version of this movie is not on that VHS. It’s only on the laserdisc version I own. Also, someone online upscaled the laserdisc version and was doing a project on it or he got the original print some how but it looks really clean and clean to the point that I’m not sure if it is the upscaled version of the laserdisc or not but I don’t know where else he would have gotten that source from.
Thanks, dear rarelust!
