I really LOVE this movie. Thanks RL for posting. Silverman and McCarthy make such an outstanding comedy duo. They remind me of older comedy duos, such as Laurel and Hardy, Abbott and Costello and especially the Odd Couple: the 1970s television series featuring Tony Randall and Jack Klugman. I wish WaB’s II was posted here on RL. Though it does not tend to get the rave reviews as this original feature, but I still like WaB’s II, as its humor is quite different and a bit more intellectual or cerebral, which is probably why most people did not understand or comprehend the humor of the second 1993 version. Additionally, WaB’s II introduces a secondary comedy duo, Tom Wright and Steve James, whom I thought were a great duo also. And WaB’s II also features the stunningly beautiful and highly sexy Jennie Moreau in a couple of unforgettable segments as well. For those who love the Silverman and McCarthy comedy duo team, you can check them out in the rare National Lapoon’s 2011 “Snatched”. Snatched also stars one of the nearly last movie performances that Ernest Borgnine was ever in, before he passed away. The comedy that Silverman and McCarthy seem to specialize in could be labeled absurdist comedy, for they do it so well. So Snatched is certainly on par with both WaB’s movies. So RL, if possible, please post both of those really great Silverman and McCarthy movies as well: WaB’s II and Snatched. PS: As I understand it, it appears a third installment of WaB’s is currently in the making. A third sequel has been kicked around for many years now. Hopefully it will finally be produced. It will be interesting to find out how Bernie has not rotted away all these years later. Again RL, thanks for posting this really great and timeless movie!! RL is a MOVIE RELIGION to me!!
This is my review of Weekend at Bernie’s:
Bernie Lomax (Richard Hammond) is an insurance company CEO with everything going for him. Only problem is, he’s about to become dead! And Bernie is about to find out being dead is a lot harder than it looks! But with the help of his trusted employees, Larry (Tom Cruise) and Richard (Adam Sandler), Bernie is able to throw one helluva wake for himself and score just one more time! Too bad there’s an assassin (Deep Roy), trying to make Larry and Richard as dead as their boss!
It’s a stupid stupid movie. Thumbs up.
Thank you.
One of the most original and hilarious screwball comedies ever!
Thank you!!!
