I can’t really get over this gem. These little-known actors are amazing. They make big hits like the Pitt/Cruise Interview with the Vampire look and feel like plastic. The emotional pain that the vampires and their victims suffer is portrayed so expressively and convincingly. Carnal desire, the human need for erotic pleasure and the inevitable connection with pleasure to suffering in the form of lack, want or loss of it, are also acted out much more convincingly, if in distilled form; an enhanced expressiveness that speaks to our longing and fear. This, as Neely comments, definitely is a keeper!
I’m surprised at the production value of this. Best quality to dollar ratio I’ve ever seen in a vampire movie, or most movies, probably. Lovely to see a film from Romania! What beautiful locations they have/had!
Standalone tie-in to the Subspecies series, heavy on the sad brooding 90s goth/Interview aesthetic, one of Full Moon’s best, and (of course) shot in Romania. This is a keeper.
A Full Moon title with commentary is always exciting. Charles Band himself!
