One of my very favorite psychological horror films. The setting adds to the atmosphere and the acting is superb all around, with a young John Ritter in a dramatic role. Based on Tom Tryon’s great novel. This shares a similar southern gothic feel with Tryon’s ‘Harvest Home’. The main plot element of the twin brothers was blatantly ripped off in the recent film ‘Goodnight Mommy’.
