Are you saying Rustblade ‘restored’ this? I use Topaz AI video restoration on music videos – but only to remove noise and compression, never to alter the features as in this. It’s a cross between Halloween masks and Thunderbirds puppets. Atrocious.

I have the Mondo Macabro DVD of this Cozzi giallo. The quality isn’t really great and audio is compressed to 192kbps IIRC so I decided to grab the Rustblade 50th Anniversary DVD, was cheap after all. Strange looking is a mild expression. It looks like they’ve just used anisotropic smoothing and/or simple local contrast. You can see lot of similar self-made “restorations” on YouTube and it’s horrible. Those filters kill details, turn people into mannequins and every surface looks like it was made of plastic.
Gonna stick to Mondo Macabro DVD until a proper HD release.
