The audio commentary (N.B: in German!) is not uninteresting at times, although Herr Leonhard Elias Lemke also digresses a bit much. He does, however, take the film seriously as “the best” war movie depicting the particular conflict and the impact on families on both sides of the “Ally Belt”, taking sides a bit less than many other similar movies; also putting the problem in relation to its timelessness and to modern day wars, like the war on Ukrainian soil.
