I saw this wonderful work for the first time in 1957. I was seven then. At fifteen I saw wider, then deeper at thirty-two and further at fifty-one. Now at seventy I look back at those times and understand clearly why there had to be The African Queen.
Thank you so much RL…
I love that poster.
It makes it look like the film is an Irwin Allen disaster movie in the 1970s.
“In a world where two people must fight the terrors of man & God, they fall in love against all odds !!”
Commentaries are with (1) director of photography Jack Cardiff, and (2) with director John Huston in a Guardian interview at the National Film Theatre in 1981 (88:15 mins.)
