As often with German movies it seems they don’t know how to get it right. Unfotunately this seems to be a constant for decades now. Luckily there are a couple of exceptions (“Lola runs” to name one). Actually it’s sad what has become of German movie-making considering they (and the French) were pioneers in several genres (until WWII, logically). Today it’s mostly (light) romantic comedies (unfunny), police&crime episodes (without the sex like in sex&crime) and kind of callow wanna-be studies-of-life – like this one. What’s left of putting together able actors, a controversial premise and the plain yet beautiful landscapes of the “Ostsee-Küste” is way less than could be expected.
