Is this a remake of George C. Scott’s “Hardcore”?…
Lovely 70’s movie with nudity and good storyline
Screenplay by a young Barry Levinson and has striking similarities to the plot of Paul Schrader’s Hardcore. Thanks for the commentary being included.
This could be quite interesting. That synopsis sounds suspiciously similar to Paul Schrader’s HARDCORE (1979). You don’t think Schrader might have… nah, surely not. Thanks for the commentary!
Additional thoughts on Paul Schrader: He has always had one foot in the gutter. I would consider myself a fan of his writing/directing, particularly his early work; There was a vein of psychotronic sleaze that gave it a gritty realism. No doubt TAXI DRIVER remains one of his greatest writing accomplishments, a sublime and subversive infiltration of the seedy underbelly of society into the mainstream. Like THE EXORCIST before it, we really wouldn’t see this phenomena again until SILENCE OF THE LAMBS arrived. I also recommend Schrader’s AUTO FOCUS (2002). It’s an outrageous exposé on actor Bob Crane, his spiral into porn addiction, and his bizarre death. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0298744/?ref_=nm_flmg_c_12_dr
