Jaw dropper here. SEE it now. Lang was on the money in this with photography and lighting that will defy the hardest of skeptics as regards the capabilities of 1920’s era films. Shot after shot of beauty in composition and framing. The clarity of the story line is part of tis experience as well. After a time I started putting words into these silent mouths and found they fit.
I am a long time fan of Lang and have always wanted to see his ‘other’ films form the 20’s.
Thank you RL.
Magnificent! These Murnau Society restorations of Weimar era classics you’ve unearthed — some of which I’ve been waiting to see for decades — are incredible: all of them nearly fully restored to original running lengths for the first time, with outstanding music scores, and with the original German-language intertitles. Just amazing. Thank you SO much.
Seeing obscure film requests making people this happy is priceless, and I completely understand the sentiment. This site has turned me on to a lot of slices of cinema that I never even knew existed and really blown my mind several times over. Thanks rarelust!
