I wish somebody could clear up the mystery of this film, concerning the different cuts and running times. IMDb claims there is a “Hardcore” version that runs 85 minutes, however this 76 minute version is the ONLY cut that exists anywhere; the commercial dvd’s from both ‘Cabellero Video’ and ‘Alpha Blue Archives’ both have the 76 minute cut. However the 76 minute version does have “hardcore” scenes in it. I mean it’s a bit more tame than most adult films, but this version would never get away with an R rating. It’s way too graphic for that. I suspect the 76 minute version is the uncut version, and there is a somewhat shorter version out there, maybe 70 minutes long that is the cut version…and the 85 minute version doesn’t exist. It wouldn’t be the first time IMDb got their running times wrong.
Immortalized mainly because of a scene in “Taxi Driver” that shows a cinema marquee displaying the title, this is also one of the highest quality adult films ever made. Although it features hardcore it never seems cheap or sleazy, mainly because of the truly interesting story and a cast that is really fine. Great soundtrack too, and one of the best films to feature Harry Reems. Not sure why “Deep Throat” gets so much attention while this one is a thousand times better.. Deserves a proper restoration.
