What’s the story behind the movie Robot Monster?
The movie is about a monster that tries to destroy the last family on Earth, but finds that he falls for the daughter of the family.
One of the most pathetic, yet heartwarming ventures ever captured on film.
They did not have the money to create a whole robot outfit, so they opted to hire a guy in a leftover gorilla suit who is walking up and down hills in blazing heat for eternity. No indoor shots, as they would have required lighting. The most spectacular SFX are soap bubbles.
This should be preserved as a legacy of mankind.
Thanks a lot for this RR, you’re the best!
At the top of the list with Wood’s ‘Plan 9 From Outer Space’ in the ‘Best Worst film’ category. Great quality and the first I’ve seen with subtitles. This film begs for a blu-ray/commentary release. Hard to believe now, but this movie actually scared me as a child… something about Ro-Man and the setting. The soundtrack (by Elmer Bernstein!) is really quite memorable and hints at what this film was meant to be – a child’s dream/nightmare, similar to ‘Invaders From Mars’.
I’m literally laughing out loud looking at these screenshots! I HAVE to get this. Thanks you, RL!
