If the weight doesn’t match the quality, it can be compressed using free HandBrake or other software (h**ps://handbrake.fr/). It’s energy-wasting transferring a very large file just to throw a large chunk of it away, but of course it takes up quite a bit of storage space. On the other hand: how often do we not download a film to see if it’s indeed something we want to see, only to quickly realize we don’t want to belong to its target audience? At least this procedure consumes less energy than throwing physical media away.
