Yes, because Bogdonovich, having made a entertaining light comedy with excellent actors and a good story, wanted to show his “actual vision” – in black and white, for no reason.
He made another such movie with John Ritter (and Carol Burnett, and Christopher Reeve, and Michael Caine, and… well, another brilliant cast) – “Noises Off…” But, in my opinion, not much else good. But hey, two good movies is two more than I’ve made (well, actually one more, but that’s another story…)
Last Picture Show. What’s Up Doc and Paper Moon (and in my opinion “Targets”) should also be included in his “good” movies.
