I may be Godzilla’s old box-office rival and we just may indeed battle on screen one day, but I have to give it up to the big guy, this film is phenomenal and yes many would say this is one of his best films, maybe even the best of the original series. Thank you!
I saw this film on television two years after it was released in Japan (1966). Mosura battling Gojira. Acquiring a copy of the film years later, in the original Japanese with English subtitles, brought new life and breath to the film. The popularity of the film in Japan caused Toho to rush into production the sequel Ghidorah, the Three-Headed Monster (San Daikaij?: Chiky? Saidai no Kessen, or Three Giant Monsters: The Greatest Battle on Earth) where Earth’s three greatest daikaiju must unite to fight King Ghidora(h).
When I first saw this a long time ago, American International Pictures (yup, the HOUSE of “Zarkoff and Nicholson”) called it “GODZILLA VS. THE THING”. With a very unique AIP Theatrical Poster, too. Aside from that, this is still one of the BEST of the GODZILLA Franchise. Thank You, Rarelust.
Thank you for this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
